The ultrashort wave communication uses the line-of-sight propagation mode, which is more stable than the short-wave skywave propagation mode, and is less affected by seasonal and diurnal changes.

The antenna can be used as a directional antenna with small size, simple structure and high gain. Thus, less power transmitters are available.

The frequency is high, the frequency band is wide, can be used for multi-channel communication.

The modulation method is usually used to adjust the frequency system, can get a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Communication quality is better than short wave.

Advantages

Wide frequency band, large communication capacity; different network radio stations outside the line of sight can work at the same frequency without interfering with each other; antennas with strong directivity are available, which is conducive to anti-interference; the influence of day and night and seasonal changes is small, and communication is relatively stable.

Disadvantages

The communication distance is relatively close; it is greatly affected by the terrain, and when the radio waves pass through mountains, hills, jungle areas and buildings, they will be partially absorbed or blocked, making communication difficult or interrupted.
